About the event

Dear colleagues,

It is a great pleasure for us to invite you, also on behalf of the IBRA, to our basic course "Fundamentals of the treatment of facial skull fractures", which will take place on September 22nd and 23rd, 2023 in Dortmund.

The treatment of facial injuries is decisive for everyday clinical practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery. From the beginning of their clinical work, training assistants are confronted with various injury patterns and the resulting diagnostic and therapeutic measures. In order to guarantee functionally and aesthetically optimal treatment results, sound knowledge and skills about emergency care and the subsequent surgical procedures must be available.

In this basic course, the basics of traumatology in the facial area are taught in a practical way. Theoretical knowledge of the emergency treatment of moderately severe and severely traumatized patients is refreshed in clear lectures that are intended to stimulate discussion. In addition, the most important fracture patterns in the viscerocranium are presented and treatment standards are explained. In the practical exercises on plastic models, the participants can practice the surgical procedures under the guidance of experienced surgeons and discuss alternative care concepts.

The course is aimed at surgeons in oral and maxillofacial surgery training and takes place in cooperation with the Young Forum of the German Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DGMKG).

We look forward to your participation and we hope that with this new course concept we can offer you an overview of the treatment of the most common fractures in the maxillofacial area.

With best regards

Dr. Dr. Lars Bonitz, Prof. Dr. dr Andrew Neff
