SKULL AND ORBITA SURGERY

The bony skull base represents the boundary between the facial and cerebral skull. Injuries or tumor diseases in this area are a challenge for surgeons because of the particularly close positional relationships of highly vulnerable anatomical structures (nerves, blood vessels, etc.) whose loss of function would severely compromise the patient's quality of life or be incompatible with life.

For this reason, the treatment of patients ist usually carried out by a team of highly qualified specialists from various fields (oral and maxillofacial surgery, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, etc.).

Modern imaging techniques are available for diagnostic purposes. . For operative preparations, new planning methods can be used for the three-dimensional representation oft the individual anatomy of the patient. The transfer of surgical planning into the surgical environment can be ensured with systems for intraoperative navigation.
